Chad Monfreda

Chad Monfreda is a Ph.D. student in ASU’s School of Life Sciences whose research focuses on biodiversity and global governance. He is especially interested in developing a better understanding of how knowledge systems could make biodiversity governance both just and effective.
Prior to joining the Consortium on Science, Policy, and Outcomes and the Project on Global and Comparative Knowledges in 2007, he worked in Montpellier, France on a series of worldwide consultations towards an International Mechanism of Scientific Expertise on Biodiversity (IMoSEB).
In 2007, Chad earned a M.S. in Environment & Resources from UW – Madison and the Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE), where as a research assistant he produced a new generation of global crop maps. He has also worked extensively on a popular indicator called the ecological footprint at the sustainability think tank Redefining Progress, and writes about sustainability science for WorldChanging.com.
