Mary Jane Parmentier Lecturer, Global Technology and Development
Mary Jane C. Parmentier is a Lecturer in the Global Technology and Development program, and the Social and Behavioral Sciences Unit at ASU's Polytechnic campus. In 1999 she received her doctorate in International Studies from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver, where her dissertation research focused on the interaction between the religious and the secular in national politics, comparing the states of Morocco and Algeria. Since her appointment at Arizona State her efforts have been focused on the role of technology in economic, social and political development, developing courses and a graduate program that examine these issues, within the context of globalization and the impact on developing countries. Recently she has worked on projects related to the role of science and engineering in development in Latin America, as well as political development in the Middle East. She reads and writes French and Spanish, and is conversant in the North African dialect of Arabic. |
