Social Dimensions of Science

To introduce students to social perspectives on the organization of science, the dynamics of scientific work and careers, and the ways science and scientists engage other major social institutions, including law, government, and the private sector. Throughout this review of the organization and dynamics of contemporary science we will identify implications for responsible professional conduct in science. The course will close with explicit discussion of peer review, research misconduct, and the professional ethics of science. |
