Monamie Bhadra is a PhD candidate in the Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology Program (HSDST) housed in the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes (CSPO). She is currently a junior fellow of the American Institute of Indian Studies, which is funding her dissertation fieldwork on the political and cultural dimensions on nuclear energy in India. Before that, Monamie was a fellow at the Center for Nanotechnology and Society (CNS), where she examined the societal implications of large-scale production of algae-based biodiesel through the "Tubes in the Desert" project. She also drafted the handbook for Public Values Mapping for policymakers and policy analysts. Before graduate school, Monamie worked as a research and administrative assistant at the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, where she helped inaugurate the Science, Technology and Public Policy Program. Monamie graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with a BSc (Hons) in Geology and a BA in English.

Monamie’s dissertation explores how relationships between science, technology and democracy are being forged in India around nuclear energy. Her other research interests include food politics, and the politics of human-animal interactions. CSPO Projects |
