Chris Martin
Dr. Martin's research interests in urban horticultural ecology
involve basic and applied research at the landscape and whole
plant level. Current ASU research in his lab includes a study of
urban landscape ecosystems using ecophysiological and
biochemical techniques. Special emphasis is given to the study
of the interactions of plants and people in cities. A
significant component of Dr. Martin's research is closely linked
to the Central Arizona Phoenix LTER initiative. Collaborations
with other ASU faculty on mycorrhizal associations in desert
urban landscapes, socioeconomic factors affecting landscape
plant species frequency and diversity, and effects of urban
landscape patch dynamics on landscape microclimate are also
ongoing. In addition, he maintains an active and externally
funded research program in urban horticultural ecology.
